Hi, I’m Jennifer Uma Kalu.
But since you’re here, you can call me Jen.
If you ask anyone who knows me well, they’ll probably tell you one thing first: I talk about money. A lot. Not because I’m obsessed with it, but because I understand what money really is — a tool. A tool we use to build stability, create options, and move closer to the life we want.
My relationship with money didn’t start from a place of privilege or perfect knowledge. Like many people, I didn’t grow up with a clear playbook for personal finance, and I definitely didn’t grow up with a silver spoon. I learned about money through experience — real life, real consequences, and yes, sometimes the hard way.
Over the years, money kept showing up in every season of my life. From my early days working in the banking industry, to my experience in customer experience and relationship management, to relocating to Canada and navigating an entirely new financial system, one thing became clear to me: most people are trying their best, but they’re not getting the clarity or guidance they deserve.
I’ve seen how confusing financial systems can be. I’ve seen how much information is left unexplained, how often people feel judged for what they don’t know, and how easy it is to make decisions without fully understanding the long-term impact. And I’ve also seen what happens when someone finally understands their options — the confidence shift is immediate.
That’s the work I do now.
Today, I’m a licensed mortgage broker, personal finance coach, and financial educator. I help people make sense of their money, understand their choices, and move forward with confidence — whether that’s preparing for homeownership, navigating credit, or building a healthier relationship with money overall.
I don’t believe in rushing people. I don’t believe in talking over them. And I don’t believe in pretending that money decisions aren’t personal. They are. They’re tied to family, fear, culture, expectations, and hope for the future. I respect that, and I work with it — not around it.
What matters to me is that when you walk away from a conversation with me, you feel clearer than when you came in. You feel informed, supported, and confident in the decisions you’re making.
So if you’re looking for someone who can help you understand your personal finances without judgment, I’m your girl.
If you’re thinking about buying your first home and want someone to walk you through the process, listen to you, and help you make smart decisions, I’m your girl.
And if you want guidance from someone who takes education seriously and actually wants you to understand your money, I’m your girl.
If that sounds like what you’ve been looking for, let’s talk.
